Omega 3 is a poly unsaturated fat essential for body.The presence of this fat is almost extinct in the food chain today.Omega 3 is essential for human beings right from fetus development from  neurological development and formation of eye till we die at an old age.Some of the other benefits includes reduction of  inflamation & astma, beneficial effect in rheumatoid arthrities,reduces depression , protection against Alzimers disease,memmory loss,lowering elevated triglycerides,  healthy eyes ,beneficial in Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)in chidren etc ....Omega 3 is  available in 3 forms such as ALA,EPA & DHA.The high level of omega 3 are from  fish like salmon,tuna in  non vegetarian sources to Walnut,flax seed,soyabean ,canola etc in vegetarian sources.Though omega 3 was rich in vegetable sources,milk,egg etc in olden days todays cultivation  and farming methodes,back yard chicken to poutry farms,from grazing to ready made feed for milking cows reduced the level of many essential vitamins and fatty acids like omega 3 in natural forms.Fortification in feed and newly developed omega 3 fortifiers for egg,milk,ghee etc can help to some extent.Omega 3 fortified products are available in market today
